The first thing to consider is the amount of people in and around the location where you’re planning to starting a franchise. Starting a franchise in a relatively unpopulated area is risky, so find out if there are plans for expansion of you area. It’s smart to focus on a particular niche in your market. When starting a franchise, know exactly who you’re targeting your product for.

By studying the demographics of your area you can find out approximately how much your target market can afford. You have to make sure your prospect consumers can afford what you’re offering. You may have the best product and solution for your public, but if it’s inaccessible to them you will not profit.

By knowing your niche and target market, you will be able to match that with your location. For example, affluent people won’t look at you starting a franchise in a seedy area.
